Astro

In September of 2024, Astro fell ill after being bitten by a paralysis tick. After a huge chunk of money, and alot of care, Astro came home completely shaved naked! He even lost his mane! However, this was the best alternative, as he stayed with us and continued to grace us with his affection. He has since struggled with his weight, never quite gaining enough to look like anything but a Thestral from happy potter.

So needless to say, our poor little Astro has had a very rough life, and requires alot of extra care. But he is the kindest little soul who deserves the world!

We know that he already has stolen the hearts of a few, will he steal your heart too?

Astro was bred by Karly Bannink at Altiva Park Miniatures stud, born on the 10th January 2024.

Standing at 29 inches in the miniature horse (MH) category, Astro is a Black Varnish Palouse Gelding.

Astro was Karly's first ever foal to grace us with his sweet nature. Astro was born at 7.52pm, and arrived extremely quickly! His mum Magic knew exactly what to do and had an extremely unproblematic birth. Magic unfortunately injured herself defending her new bub and the pair were on stall rest for weeks. Astro developed lax tendons & a type of stifle lock and we began investigating with Vets as to what needed to be done. All vets assured us that he would grow into his legs. Unfortunately, this never happened. Astro has now been earth side for over 2 years and is still a wonky back legged pony. We have sought many opinions from vets, chiros, physios and even farriers. Unfortunately, it appears Astro will never walk like a normal horse, but we keep a close eye on his development and comfort.
