Magic was bred by Pam Cheung & Tamar Hutchins at Larapinta stud, born on the 4th March 2011.
Standing at 33in in the miniature horse (MH) category, Magic is a Black Varnish Roan Palouse.
Magic was the 3rd miniature Karly bought. With the intention of breeding her - that foal being Astro! Magic didnt initially scan pregnant and so Karly wasted no time taking her to the show pen! Meanwhile Magic had Astro hidden the entire time!! Once realising this, Magic was put back into broodmare mode, where she could relax in the pasture and become fat happy and very pregnant!

Magic is a very spicy girl, her temperment lies somewhere between "Can I have treat?" to Why is it trying to bite me? Not that she does bite, but Magic definitely plays an excellent part as a fiesty mare with an excellent mare stare! But this is a HUGE part of her charm. Everyone who meets magic loves how grumpy she is, but she is definitely not a beginner horse! Magic is reserved for experienced handlers when she is not being a broodmare!

Astro is a one of a kind very unique equine with a disability. Despite his challenges he proves to everyone that he is a fighter, a lover and a gentle soul.
​
Astro was unfortunate to be born with stifle lock unknowingly passed down from his father and as vets have described, longer ligements than legs. This means Astro is hypermobile in his hocks - which is very noticeable when he stands or walks. Due to this, Astro lives his life as the best cuddle buddy and a spoilt paddock ornament!

My very first show with Magic! With me still learning the ropes, Magic taking the lead we managed to pull off 1st in Classic led! She was proving that she was worth her weight in gold.

Magic was also hiding Astro in her belly at this point in time! Sneaky girl had been scanned NOT in foal, but was indeed pregnant!

Looking back on this show brings alot of anxiety, I'll be honest. With 2 horses (Belle and Magic), and being required in 2 rings at once, I was not focused and a bit frazzled by the experience. I learned alot of lessons this day, that I will remember forever!

Magic was in top form today. This is my favourite photo of Magic ever, and I crave the day we can return to Warwick Ag show. There was alot of waiting for our classes but to take Champion Palouse against a bigger Palouse mare was incredible. So extremely happy with this wonderful day. Also our very first Champion ribbon!

This show was INCREDIBLE. This was like winning the jackpot. I was smiling ear to ear. We tried handler classes for the first time and we also tried liberty for the first time. Taking out first place in both. Not only that, but both of my beautiful girls (Belle & Magic) came home for the first time from their agistment! This was also the show that made me think that Miss Magic was Pregnant - She did infact scan pregnant with Astro!

After recently weaning her colt, Magic hit the ring again. I honestly wasn't expecting much but to come home my first garland with one of my horses is pretty special. The old girl did me proud!! Can't wait until she puts more weight back on and fills back out properly.
